The Ambitions of a Dark QueenA deathly chill hung in the dawn air, as winds swept constantly across the rocks and crevices of the dark lands. They wisped through the porous stones, making haunting noises that almost sounded like hymns of death. What little vegetation that could be found in this forsaken land swayed in the breeze, holding firm like the bare stones around them. Ever slowly, the sun was creeping its way into the sky, yet it would still be a long time before the denizens of this region would know it, their land ever covered by a thick blanket of dark clouds.

A ruthless species, the Changelings are practically bred to conquer and slay all others. Though a feral species, whose intents seem little more than animalistic, great strategy is used in their taking of enemy lands…

Initial Steps
It is only by the orders of the matriarch queen that the Changelings attack another land. Once she has set her sights upon it, the invasion begins. Scouts are sent to patrol the outer regions, gathering information on its defenses, strengths, and weaknesses. An Evening with the Changeling QueenStillness hung in the evening air, as Drew walked slowly down the dim hallway. Every now and then, he would pass by one of the corridor's large windows, his youthful form silhouetted against the sunset-laden sky outside. Before long, he took another turn, entering an interior hall that was devoid of sunlight, yet illuminated by the soft glow of lights that hung upon the walls.

Summary

When she is saved by one of the ponies responsible for destroying her plans the great Changeling queen is forced to make certain choices. Will the choices she make now be for the better of her last remaining children or will she lose them for good?

The Rise of Chrysalis, Chapter 1CHAPTER 1—

Chrysalis smashed headfirst into the snow. She bounced several times before coming to a grinding halt. She just sat there for a moment, in total shock over what had just occurred. All around her, her minions plopped down one by one, making craters in the freshly fallen snow.
Canterlot was lost.
All at once, Chrysalis scrambled to her feet and screamed into the sky.
“No…AAAAAAAAAAAAGH! NO! NO! NO!” She thrashed at the snow, spraying powder in every direction.
One by one, her changeling soldiers rose up, gathering around their Queen.
Slowly, Chrysalis got her bearings and started stomping out of the frozen valley where she had landed. She took to the skies and eventually came to a nondescript and not-so-frozen foothill with a few trees and a mineshaft leading inside it. She skulked inside and traveled through the winding, dripping passageways until they opened up into a cave.
“We were so CLOSE!” she hit the rock wall of the
Queen Chrysalis' summerQueen Chrysalis sat calmly in her chair, gazing across the tropical sea that was stretched out before her. It was a scorching hot day at the beach, as the blazing sun continued its daily journey across the sky. All the while, however, Chrysalis stayed cool, thanks to a large black umbrella she had propped up over her chair, and a wide-brimmed sunhat that sat cozily atop her draping mane. To make it even more bearable, she reached into a bag that sat off to one side of her chair, and pulled out a pair of green-rimmed sunglasses.

"Ah, summer…" She said happily to herself, as she donned the sunglasses, and reclined further back in her chai
A Changeling Queen's ParadiseQueen Chrysalis cantered slowly along the shores of the lagoon. All the while, her draping mane flowed gracefully in the gentle wind, and the sheen of her eyes and fangs became all the more illuminated by the bright sun above. Every now and then, she stopped to look down into the lagoon, where she would see herself beautifully reflected in its waters. She would look, smile at herself, and then happily continue on her way. Other times, she would find herself trotting beneath the reaches of the occasional palm tree, whose leaves would rustle in the wind, as if whispering to her as she passed.

I started working on some ideas for a few Queen Chrysalis-themed poems, and this was the first one I managed to get written out. :heart:
